This limited competition will allow those Juniors who live & compete within the Central Region of the United States the chance to get together in one place for this unique opportunity. During our April Sunflower Cluster, held in Wichita, KS, we are offering a special competition to recognize these Junior Handlers. This competition is funded by the Sunflower Cluster Charitable Trust a 501 (C) (3) organization , your contribution is tax deductible.
• The Central States Region states are Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
• Eligibility of juniors - - Two (2) Open wins with competition.
• Time frame of wins - - March 15, 2008 to March 21, 2009.
• Wins at shows within the Central Region states may include Specialty Shows & Group Shows as well as All-Breed Shows.
Wins at AKC Sanctioned Matches or Limited Junior Showmanship classes do not qualify.
• Juniors must be under 18 years of age at the time of the qualifying wins. Age on the day of the competition has no bearing.
• Entries - - Entries close at the same time as the Cluster. Include date and name of shows of qualifying shows on the entry form.
Placements & Awards - From eight (8) selected finalists
• The Junior chosen as Central Region Top Junior Handler will be awarded a scholarship in an amount of at least $1,000.00 & a jacket with
“Central Region Top Junior Handler.”
• Three awards of merit will be given. Those Juniors chosen for these placements will receive scholarships in an amount of at least $400.00
& jackets with “Central Region Top Junior Handler - Award of Merit.”
• Remaining finalists will receive jackets with “Central Region Top Junior Handler Finalists.”
• The Scholarships are one-time scholarships for post-secondary education (not necessarily a college). When the Junior enrolls, the Cluster will require enrollment confirmation from the school. The Cluster will send payment directly to the school for credit to the junior's account.
